This classic apple pie is the perfect Sunday baking recipe

The buttery crust and spiced apple filling is sure to be a hit with the family.

Ingredients, serves 6

300g plain flour, plus extra for rolling out

Pinch of salt

150g unsalted butter, chilled and diced

2 tbsp caster sugar

1 large egg yolk

2-3 tbsp ice cold water

For the filling

750g Bramley apples (about three large apples)

500g apples (about four apples)

75g caster sugar, plus 2 tsp extra

Half tsp ground cinnamon

Good grating of nutmeg

8 whole cloves

1 tbsp milk
