The new chairman of IDA Ireland has said he has “moved on” from his previous role as managing partner of PwC Ireland, shrugging off questions over whether he should create a “separation” between himself and the consultancy giant.

Speaking at an Oireachtas committee hearing on Wednesday, Feargal O’Rourke said “there’s nothing as ‘ex’ as an ex-managing partner” after being asked about his move from PwC Ireland to IDA.

O’Rourke, who spent 27 years at PwC Ireland before retiring last October, was asked about the situation by Richard Bruton, the Fine Gael TD, during a discussion about Ireland’s strategies to keep winning foreign direct investment (FDI).
