Fianna Fáil is demanding an independent inquiry into mortuary services at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and calling on the Taoiseach to apologise for raising doubts about pathologists’ claims.

It emerged last week that four pathologists wrote to hospital management in Waterford last October to express concerns about the condition of the mortuary saying that dead bodies had been left lying on trolleys, leaking bodily fluids and making closed-coffin funerals unavoidable.
