‘Much needed’: Michael O’Leary backs Boeing board overhaul

Reform to plane maker’s upper ranks comes after Ryanair chief executive took aim at the company’s strategy

Boeing’s sweeping reforms in upper management are “much needed,” Michael O’Leary has said, in one of the first public comments from an executive at a major airline since the plan maker’s boss Dave Calhoun announced his departure on Monday.

In a statement titled “Ryanair welcomes Boeing management changes in Seattle,” the Irish budget carrier said it believed the changes were “necessary and good for Boeing and its customers”.
