Irish mortgage holders continue to pay more than European counterparts

The average interest rate for an Irish mortgage stood at 4.27 per cent in January, up .08 percentage points from the month earlier, new figures from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) have shown.

This stands in contrast with a falling European average rate of 3.96 per cent, which dropped 0.1 percentage points from the month earlier.
