Irish mortgage rates still slightly higher than in EU

Central Bank figures also reveal that mortgage holder with non-bank lenders are subject to higher rates overall than bank customers

The average interest rate for new Irish mortgages in December 2023 was 4.19 per cent compared to an EU average rate of 4.06 per cent, the Central Bank has said.

The average fixed-term rate was 4.14 per cent in December, a slight drop of six basis points on November. A basis point is 0.01 percentage points.
