Irish Independent owner buys Wicklow-based packaging firm

Mediahuis said deal would support print distribution ‘for the longest possible time’

The Antwerp-based publisher said this would protect its route to market for its print titles in Ireland.

Mediahuis Ireland, through its Reach Group subsidiary, has acquired Wicklow-based Paramount Packaging, a supplier of packaging products.

The Irish Independent publisher said on Tuesday the acquisition is in line with its strategy to support its news wholesale business.

The Antwerp-based publisher said it would protect its route to market for its print titles in Ireland, which include the Belfast Telegraph, the Sunday World, and the Sunday Independent.
