Food safety laws to be strengthened as inspectors find grave concerns

The state’s food safety controls are set to be strengthened after an investigation into food businesses discovered meat contaminated with excrement, animal hair and floor paint.

Other issues included meat labels being forged and beef products being passed off as lamb.
