Poll: Irish people seek closer EU defence ties but lose faith in migration, Gaza policy

Almost a quarter of Irish people think the EU is moving in the wrong direction and two-thirds are dissatisfied with its response to the Israel-Gaza conflict

A majority of Irish people (56 per cent) want to invest more in EU defence and security cooperation, despite their growing unhappiness with the bloc’s response to war and migration.

A poll by Amárach Research for European Movement Ireland found that while Irish people believe the EU performs well on trade, they are growing uneasy about the direction the EU is taking in other areas, including environment and agriculture.
