The number of corporate insolvencies in Ireland are set to surge up to 40 per cent this year as more and more businesses continue to fold in the face of surging costs, higher interest rates and weakening demand.

New figures released this week by consultancy firms Deloitte and PwC show a major spike in business failures in the first three months of this year, which is expected to continue for the remainder of 2024.
