Porsche’s latest performs to a T

Any fears that the T badge might have died a death with the 991’s demise at the end of 2018 can be allayed by two new models in the Porsche catalogue, called the 718 Boxster T and the 718 Cayman T

In 1967, Porsche launched a less powerful, 2.0-litre version of the earliest 911 and called it the 911T. That honorific stood for ‘Touring’ and it was supposed to implicate the 911T’s more laid-back, genial character, the 110hp sports car providing the entry point to the world of Porsche ownership. However, that didn’t stop a competition-spec 911T winning the 1968 Monte Carlo rally, in the hands of Vic Elford.
