Low uptake on Dirt refund for first time buyers as fewer than 600 apply

Fewer than 600 borrowers have availed of a government support introduced for first-time buyers more than two years ago.
In October 2014, the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan attempted to make a concession to first-time buyers who were worried about strict Central Bank mortgage lending rules.
In his Budget 2015 speech, Noonan announced a Deposit Interest Retention Tax (Dirt) refund for first-time buyers who were saving for their first home.
