Motor industry figures released on Wednesday show that new car registrations fell by 4.4 per cent last year, the second consecutive annual fall, as sales of imported second-hand cars continued to climb to record levels.

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) said 125,557 new cars were registered last year, down from 131,332 in 2017.
