The Grafton Hotel, owned by Eamon Waters’ investment firm, has secured permission to build a 50-bedroom annex at Textile House near Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.

Last year, Sretaw PE, owned by Panda Waste founder Waters, applied for permission to partially demolish buildings beside Peter’s Pub on Johnson Place to build a new eight-storey building.

The original application sought clearance from Dublin City Council to build a 61-bed hotel and six residential apartments.

The local authority raised concerns over the proposed size of the development and said the company should “explore options regarding a reduction in the height of the scheme” by at least one or two levels.
