Pensions Summit: The real issue facing the economy is demographics

Irish Institute of Pensions Management President Rose Leonard on the challenges ahead

Studies suggest that the number of people working relative to those in retirement could substantially reduce over the coming decades.

This – coupled with the fact that we are all living longer – suggest that the state retirement pension is unsustainable at current levels.

Yet there are hundreds of thousands of workers who quite simply haven’t developed the habit of long term savings.

The Sunday Business Post 'Pension and Investment Summit – The Big Picture' will provide a platform to examine high level issues impacting on the future of private and state pensions.

The Pensions and Investments Summit takes place on September 22 at the Gibson Hotel in Dublin. For further information or to review the full programme see www.pensionssummit.ie
