FG claims USC cut of 1% is possible in budget

Claim comes despite estimated €100 million cost of suspending water charges

Fine Gael is insisting that it can deliver USC cuts of 1 per cent to low and middle income earners in the budget, despite the estimated €100 million cost of suspending water charges.

The party has secured agreement on the issue with Fianna Fáil, and also expects to be able to continue with tax equalisation for the self- employed to bridge the gap created by the €1,650 PAYE tax credit.
