With two billionaires at its helm, the Irish commercial radio market just got very interesting.

Last week, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp announcedits intention to buy Wireless Group, the former UTV Media, which owns seven radio stations in Ireland and 13 in Britain.

Now the Australian media tycoon will be going directly up against Communicorp, the media company owned by Irish billionaire Denis O’Brien which, among many international assets, controls six radio stations here.
