Michael Brennan: Donohoe pulls off tough balancing act

The minority government a little more confidently of can think of serving a third year in office

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe looks like he has further extended the lifespan of this much criticised minority government with this Budget.

He had three key target groups - and by and large, it looks like they are reasonably content with what they got.

The first was the voting public, who got tax cuts of €335 million and social welfare increases of €5 from next March onwards.
