Varadkar hasn’t decided if he will stand in next election

The taoiseach said he would make a decision in the next few months about whether to contest the next general election

Leo Varadkar has not yet made a decision on whether he will run in the next election, but said he is happy to "help out or get out of the way” when a new leader is elected.

The taoiseach, who announced his resignation yesterday, would not endorse any particular candidate, saying he will “support wholeheartedly whoever is elected” and said a leadership contest could be “beneficial” because it would allow for a debate.
