Paschal Donohoe has said he would "relish" a position in a new cabinet but has not looked for any "assurances" that he will get one.

The minister for public expenditure and reigning Eurogroup president said he had phoned and spoken to Simon Harris to congratulate him on the level of support he has been getting in his uncontested bid for the Fine Gael leadership, and his likely ascension to the office of the Taoiseach.
