Fish can make Ireland a food island

Not only is seafood not a dominant feature on Irish restaurant menus, wherever it is available, it tends to be overpriced

Howth is a fabulous village. It has been my home for over 50 years now. It has a terrific selection of shops selling fresh fish, perhaps more than any other village around the coast. I regularly drop into one of these shops and buy a fillet of fish for anything between €1 and €3 and take it home and cook it.
