Wind energy accounted for 43% of Irish electricity in March

Kerry, Cork and Tipperary generated enough power to meet nearly a third of Ireland’s energy demand

Irish wind energy generated about 10 per cent more power this March than the previous record in 2020

Wind energy accounted for 43 per cent of the total Irish electricity supply last month, when a new March record 1,541 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of power was generated.

According to Wind Energy Ireland’s (WEI) monthly report, this is substantially up on the previous record set in March 2020, when the sector contributed 1,392 GWh of electricity to the grid.
