The UK government is considering whether to approve the Abu Dhabi-backed takeover of the Telegraph newspaper group, after competition and media regulators submitted reports to the culture secretary.

UK cabinet minister Lucy Frazer is set to reach a decision on the viability of a deal for the right-wing Telegraph newspaper and the Spectator magazine, as journalists and MPs flag concerns over press freedom.
