The chief operating officer of the Harris Group trucking company has been convicted and fined for damaging a hedgehog’s nest on the site of his employer’s planned 11,000 square foot Italianate mansion in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

John McEvoy was convicted under the Wildlife Acts and fined €1,000 in Naas District Court last Monday after a judge found that he “did use or allow or cause to be used a mechanically propelled vehicle”, which destroyed “the ...
