Tourism firms expect to 'pass on’ price rises to customers if Vat increases

An expected return of the 13.5 per cent VAT rate on tourism, up from the current 9 per cent rate, will have an inflationary effect according to two major business groups.

The Vat rate for the hospitality sector, traditionally 13.5 per cent, was lowered to 9 per cent as an emergency measure to support the industry after the Covid outbreak.
