Tensions are high between Boliden and trade unions amid ongoing talks at the WRC, with staff unhappy with the terms of a deal offered by the company
Staff at Tara Mines have rejected a rescue plan – including layoffs and pay freezes – aimed at getting the Co Meath facility reopened after more than six months of closure.
At a meeting on Wednesday evening, around 60 shop stewards represented by Siptu, the trade union, voted unanimously against a proposal tabled by Boliden, the Swedish company that owns the mine, in a bid to reopen it.
