Shannon water pipeline delays a ‘threat’ to foreign investment
The state’s water utility has warned ‘difficult decisions’ lie ahead unless €1.6bn project is delivered
Ireland’s ability to win foreign direct investment is under threat due to fears of water shortages, with Uisce Éireann warning that further delays to the €1.6 billion Shannon pipeline will lead to “difficult decisions”.
The state utility has met with multinationals and has said that it may have to refuse new connection requests unless the controversial 170km pipeline from the River Shannon to the capital is delivered within a decade.
