Brendan O’Connor’s RTÉ Radio One show has joined the revamped Nine O’Clock show as the second most listened to radio programme in the country, according to the latest JNLR figures.

It comes as the Nine O’Clock show, formerly presented by Ryan Tubridy, lost 4,000 listeners in the three months to November, now capturing a daily audience of 343,000.

However, the programme is still up 12,000 listeners on the same book one year prior, despite the worst financial crisis in its history erupting at RTÉ. The scandal - born out of the revelation of underreported payments to Tubridy - saw the former Late Late Show host pulled from his mid-morning radio slot in June and exit the broadcaster for good in August.
