Red C Poll: Majority want DUP power-sharing veto to be removed

Change to political model would mean major review of the terms of the Good Friday Agreement

Chris Heaton-Harris, the UK Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, said the talks between the British government and the DUP are nearing completion, but Jeffrey Donaldson, the DUP leader, has cautioned that there are still gaps between their negotiating positions.

A majority of people want the DUP’s veto on restoring government in the North removed, according to the latest Business Post/Red C poll.

Speculation is mounting that the DUP is preparing to return to power-sharing in the North, having boycotted the executive for over a year due to Northern Ireland Protocol.
