Over 20 landowners and developers offer to build modular housing for Ukrainian refugees

The first significant step towards moving refugees into longer-term accommodation gets underway

Officials at Minister Roderic O’Gorman’s department are seeking expressions of interest from developers to build units that could accommodate up to 200 people.

More than 20 private landowners and developers have approached the Department of Integration over plans to build modular homes for Ukrainian refugees as the state turns to the private sector to move thousands of people from hotels and B&Bs.

As reported by the Business Post last week, the department has started gauging interest among the sector to build modular units across the country, in the first significant step towards moving refugees into longer-term accommodation.
