The next budget will prioritise frontline services and “tangible, practical” supports for carers, the finance minster has said, after a resounding no vote in the family and care referendums last week.

Michael McGrath said there were “no excuses” for the government’s failure to convince the public to update language on the institution of marriage, family and women in the home in twin votes last Friday, and that the no side ran "an excellent campaign”.
