More than 1,300 homes in Donabate given green light after residents’ vote

Two thirds of locals at a meeting voted to back the project after the developer made a number of concessions

The first phase of the project will involve the construction of about 600 residential units, two crèches, shops and a site for a new Gaelscoil development

A plan to build more than 1,300 homes in Donabate has been given the go-ahead, following a settlement between developer Aledo and local residents.

The Corballis East strategic housing development (SHD) can now begin construction after a public meeting hosted by the Donabate Portrane Community Council, a residents’ group, voted to end judicial review proceedings against it.

The project includes 1,323 residential units, a 32-acre nature park, crèches and links to the Broadmeadow Greenway.
