Kingspan accused of misleading EU over failed merger with Slovenian rival

EU commission has taken the preliminary view that Kingspan ‘intentionally or negligently’ misled EU merger investigators about ‘basic facts’

Kingspan, the Irish insulation maker, has been accused of providing “incorrect, incomplete and misleading information” to the EU about its abandoned merger with Slovenian rival Trimo.

The European Commission issued a statement of objections on Tuesday, the second step in a new investigation into the merger, despite the fact that the transaction never went through. If the Commission finds against Kingspan, the Cavan-based firm could face financial penalties.
