Engineers have warned a key standard underpinning the state’s €3 billion mica redress scheme is unfit for purpose, casting doubt on whether the government is properly fixing damaged houses around the country.

Homeowners have long warned the technical standard, called IS 465, which engineers use to make decisions on mica-damaged houses is based on outdated science.
