The number of work permits being issued has dropped sharply over shortage of housing while multinationals are largely hiring people already in the country
The housing crisis is deterring employers from hiring overseas workers despite the tight constraints in the Irish labour market, an expert has said.
A total of 3,203 permits were issued under ‘Information & Communication Activities’ in the January to August period, down from 7,609 in the corresponding period in 2022, according to figures published by the Department of Enterprise.
