The government is set to explore the establishment of a national fintech hub this year in a bid to foster investment in the sector.

The plans were announced in the Ireland for Finance 2024 action plan, published by the Department of Finance on Friday.

The department said that it would facilitate the consultation in conjunction with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment by the third quarter of this year.

It said it would be calling for submissions from key stakeholders including Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), and other professional service firms.
