Former Garda boss dropped plan for Mulvey to mediate in McCabe row

Kieran Mulvey successfully negotiated an end to some of the country’s most bitter disputes during his 25 years in charge of the Labour Relations Commission

Former Garda commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan dropped a plan to use the state’s most experienced industrial relations troubleshooter to resolve Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe’s complaints.

She had asked for the assistance of Kieran Mulvey, who had successfully negotiated an end to some of the country’s most bitter disputes during his 25 years in charge of the Labour Relations Commission.
