A government TD and former junior minister has admitted that a Dublin rental property he part-owns is not currently registered with the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).

John Paul Phelan, the Fine Gael TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, confirmed to the Business Post that a tenancy at an apartment in Rathmines, in which he owns a 50 per cent share, was not currently registered with the board.

The revelation follows weeks of controversy over the property interests of Robert Troy, the Fianna Fáil TD, which culminated in his resignation last month while last week, Stephen Donnelly, the Health Minister, was forced to admit that a property he owned in Sandyford had not been registered with the RTB.
