Eamon Ryan has welcomed an EU decision to withdraw from the Energy Charter Treaty.

The environment minister was responding to a decision taken by member states at the European Competitiveness Council on Thursday to withdraw from the controversial treaty, which allows companies to sue governments over energy related policies.
