Dublin City Council confirms Richard Shakespeare as new chief

Council has confirmed that its current acting head was formally appointed chief executive at a meeting of its Special Council on Tuesday

Richard Shakespeare has been confirmed Dublin City Council’s new chief executive.

The current acting head of the country’s largest local authority has been selected to replace Owen Keegan, who stood down in September, following a Public Appointments Service (Pas) process.

Shakespeare will be in charge of Dublin City Council’s €4.2bn annual budget, which was approved by councillors in October.
