Gabriel Makhlouf has insisted he is “open-minded” about what European central bankers should do about interest rates, having argued against cutting the cost of borrowing on several occasions in the last six months.

The governor of the Central Bank or Ireland is appearing in front of an Oireachtas committee on Wednesday afternoon to address interest rates, inflation and other economic trends.
