Department and homeless executive rule out housing committee meeting on McVerry Trust

Oireachtas housing committee was due to hear from representatives of embattled housing chariety next week

Darragh O’Brien, the minister for housing, last month got Cabint approval for a €15 million state bailout of Peter McVerry Trust.

The Department of Housing and the Dublin Region Homeless Executive have both declined to appear before TDs and senators next week to answer questions over the future of the Peter McVerry Trust.

The Oireachtas housing committee had been due to hear from representatives of the trust next week following an unprecedented €15 million government bailout.
