Credit register data breach could have ‘adverse’ impact on borrowers’ credit scores - Central Bank

Incident did not involve any borrower information being hacked or illegally accessed

The Central Bank has announced an investigation to see how many borrowers are affected by a technical data breach in relation to their credit histories.

In a statement on Monday, the bank said it was not “in a position to determine with accuracy the extent to which credit applications were adversely affected by this incident”, but that the records of around 20,500 borrowers contained performance data pointing to repayment difficulties in May, June or July ...
