Chris Donoghue to leave Coveney to become new government press secretary

Former Newstalk presenter will replace Nick Miller who is standing down on April 9 when Simon Harris becomes Taoiseach

Simon Coveney’s media advisor Chris Donoghue has agreed to become the next Government Press Secretary, it has emerged.

Donoghue, a former radio and television news reporter and presenter will succeed Nick Miller who has held the post under Taoiseach Leo Varadkar since 2017.

He will be paid at Assistant Secretary General level which commands a salary of between €156,472 and €178,995.
