Cap on number and more selective criteria needed for Bar, say lawyers
Focus groups concluded there were too many called to the Bar and that quality of entrants was slipping
There are too many barristers in Ireland and a cap should be imposed on the number of new entrants, a new report based on feedback from lawyers has found.
It also said that “more rigorous and selective criteria” should be applied as the “brightest and the best” are no longer attracted to the profession.
