Brown Thomas Arnotts has assured shoppers that its businesses would not be affected by the insolvency of its Austrian co-owner.

The Business Post reported on Wednesday afternoon that Signa had filed for insolvency after a last-ditch attempt to raise emergency funding failed.

“The news today on Signa Holding does not change anything for Brown Thomas Arnotts as we trade independently of any support from shareholders,” a spokeswoman from Brown Thomas Arnotts said.

She added that Central Group becoming a majority shareholder earlier this month clearly demonstrated its support for the business.
