Our man at the races on what to expect from the third day of Cheltenham

It was tempting to compare City Island and owner Sean Mulryan after the horse landed the Grade One Ballymore Novice Hurdle, sponsored by Mulryan, on the second day of Cheltenham yesterday.

Everything was going swimmingly for our headline tip at 8-1 but he was badly squeezed up at the second-last hurdle and when the heavily backed Champ came along side him before the final jump, all looked lost for City Island and Mark Walsh.
