BMW’s X6 was truly a trendsetter. Before the first-generation’s startling debut in 2008, no company had tried to blend the attributes of a 4x4 (or SUV) with those of a coupé. BMW decided to venture into such a risky realm, taking the X5 Mk2 as a basis and then redrawing its bodywork with a swooping roofline and aggressively chunky appearance.
