Ronan Timmins of CUS, Dublin, and Tanya Massey of Loreto College, St Stephen’s Green, with Helena Wood, leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra and Mia Cooper, leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra

Two of Ireland’s high profile musicians, Helena Wood and Mia Cooper, took time out from their jobs as leaders of the RTE symphony and concert orchestras respectively when they joined young aspiring musicians for this year’s launch of an important teenage music competition.

The 2015 Father Frank Maher Classical Music Awards, sponsored by Top Security, have a prize of €3,000 and are open to sixth-year, post-primary students of strings, woodwind, brass and piano.
