From the wine lover’s point of view, Burgundy is a genuine voyage of discovery. As anyone who has bought wine in France over the years will have noticed, an awful lot of French wine never makes it to the shores of dear old Ireland. With Burgundy wines, it’s an almost inaccessible paradise (now listed in Unesco’s World Heritage List) that one gets only a tantalising glimpse of among the overpriced bottles of the small sub-section of Burgundy treasure available to the Irish consumer.
